We have personally tried and tested all the units, so having used all the products we thought we would share with you our impressions.
This tells you everything you need to know. It knows where all the fixed speed traps are, and the database seems good. Rather than have a laser sensor, the Cyclops has some frequently used mobile traps on their database. The great thing about the Cyclops is that it actually knows the speed limit at the points where the cameras are, and displays this on the screen. Where there's a variable limit, it'll warn you of that, too. It's directional, so it'll alert you only if the camera's on your side of the road. Satellite contact is good. We found it only loses it momentarily when there's heavy tree cover etc. and just to let you know, it bleeps, so you are extra alert yourself for those moments when you know it's out of action.
A bit bigger than some of its rivals, Cyclops still looks good on the dash as its space-age shape blends in with most modern car interiors, and its LED lights are clear to see, in any light conditions. There's no antenna cable to worry about positioning, although there is one available if your windscreen isn't suitable.
Other features include a compass that tells you which direction you're headed, Overspeed Mode, which will give extra warning if you are going over the speed limit, and Limiter Mode, when you can select your own limit in 5mph increments, and it'll alert you when you exceed that.
The design and big display is appealing to some as is the approach of telling you about common mobile laser sites as opposed to trying to detect them but there is nothing particularly special about the unit over its compatriates.
