Campaign Tackles Speeding Drivers in Surrey
16th January 2010
A new campaign has been launched warning motorists across Surrey about the potentially fatal consequences of speeding.
Developed by the Surrey Safety Camera Partnership the campaign uses the image of a distraught young boy whose mother has been killed.
It tells drivers: "You were speeding when you killed Ben's mum: Take your time, not a life."
The poster will be featured on buses and billboards throughout the county.
The voice of 'Ben' will also be heard on Surrey radio stations.
The campaign will be shown on 50 buses including those operating out of Guildford, Byfleet, Cranleigh and Epsom, with posters also being distributed to businesses, libraries, council offices, police stations, hospitals and doctors' surgeries across the county.
Billboards in Leatherhead, Reigate, Redhill, Whyteleafe and Camberley will also feature the emotive image.
Duncan Knox, Partnership project manager, said:
"Our aim is to make drivers aware of the potentially very serious consequences of driving too fast, and we hope Ben brings that home to them in a powerful and thought-provoking way."
