A police helicopter pilot who was caught driving his car at 118mph has been banned for just 21 days.
David Crisall, 38, had finished a shift at Alconbury, Cambridgeshire, when colleagues spotted his Alfa Romeo.
He told magistrates at Huntingdon that if he lost his licence he would not be able to get to his job, which involves life-and-death operations.
Crisall, a civilian pilot from Ramsey, Cambridgeshire, was also fined £400 with £35 costs. Road safety charity Brake described the leniency of the sentence as ‘appalling.'
