Now a Tax on Speeding Tickets
Daily Mail, July 28, 2003
Drivers fined for speeding or parking offences are being threatened with a new stealth tax to fund Britain’s burgeoning compensation culture. They will have to pay an extra £35 on top of fixed penalty charges, and the money will go to the victims of crime under a scheme being proposed by David Blunkett. The Home Secretary's plan, approved by the Chancellor, will mean forking out £95 instead of the current £60.
